Bengaluru: CA student killed after Tamil Nadu bus hits bike

Hebbal traffic police managed to arrest him within a few hours.

Police said that Puttaraju had gone to a relative's house near Huskur Junction on Saturday evening.

BENGALURU: Two people, including a CA student, died in separate road accidents involving government buses in the city on Sunday. In the incident reported in Electronic City police station limits, Puttaraju, 24, a final year CA student and a resident of Kadirenahalli, was killed after a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus hit his bike near Hosa Road Junction.

Police said that Puttaraju had gone to a relative’s house near Huskur Junction on Saturday evening. Around 6 am on Sunday, he was returning home on a bike. While he was entering the Hosur Road near Hosa Road Junction, a speeding bus coming from Tamil Nadu towards the city rammed into his bike. As he fell from the bike, the bus ran over him killing him on the spot.

“The bus driver did not stop the vehicle and sped away. Angered by this, some motorists followed the bus and stopped it at Madivala and brought the driver to the spot. He was arrested later,” the Electronic City traffic police said.

In another incident in Hebbal, a 38-year-old cook, identified as Asad Ali, a resident of Halasur died when a BMTC bus hit a two-wheeler from the rear on Hebbal Flyover around 4.50 pm. After the accident, the bus driver, Mohammed Siraj, abandoned the vehicle and escaped. However, the Hebbal traffic police managed to arrest him within a few hours.
