Hyderabad: Techie tries to avoid pothole, run over by car

Hyderabad: An IBM employee died in Madhapur on Tuesday due to a single pothole. Ch. Chanakya Reddy’s scooter skid while he was trying to avoid a pothole and he was ran over by a car, said police sources.

Chanakya Reddy, 24, a native of Kurnool, was working as a software engineer at the IBM campus in Raidurgam. He was living in a rented flat at KPHB. The accident took place on Tuesday afternoon, when he was riding his scooter to office.

When he reached Butta Convention Centre in Madhapur, his scooter skid as he was trying to avoid a pothole. He fell and a speeding taxi (AP09 TB 2793), ran over him.

He was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he succumbed to  injuries. Investigating officer Venkat Reddy said that police had registered a case of accidental death against the driver of the cab.

He added that as Chanakya was wearing a helmet, he did not suffer any head injuries, but died due to internal injuries. Sources said that the other parts of the road was fine, but a single pothole in the middle of the road led to the incident.
