Romanian shows how he put devices in Thiruvananthapuram ATM

Thiruvananthapuram: The cantonment police who got  custody of Gabriel Marian Ilie, 27, the Romanian ATM robbery suspect, took him to the ATM kiosk and hotels for evidence gathering on Saturday morning. He  was taken to the ATM counter at Althara, two hotels at Powerhouse road, one at Thampanoor and another at Kovalam. Gabriel, explained how he planted the devices inside the kiosk.

Cantonment assistant commissioner of police, K.E. Baiju,  who led the probe team,  said that the investigation will be held in a time-bound manner. Gabriel was  being interrogated at the cantonment police station. He was produced before the judicial first class magistrate on Friday who  handed him over to the police until August 22.

State police chief Loknath Behera told mediapersons that the state police had  recommended to the Interpol to issue a red-corner notice against the other suspects. This  means the suspects will have to be arrested and deported from their country to India.   Around 40 victims had lost about  Rs 7 lakh  after three Romanian nationals hacked the bank data base and used cameras to pry into the ATM numbers of the victims. The money was later withdrawn by suspects from the ATMs in Mumbai.
