Fake Yellow Fever vax certificates: 2 held in Hyderabad

 Hyderabad: Santoshnagar police of Hyderabad arrested two persons Mohd Asif Uddin, owner of AR Travellers Vaccine Clinic and Malla Madhukar, M.M. International health clinic Pvt Ltd, for fraudulently issuing Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates, which is mandatory for people travelling to South America and Africa.

Taking advantage of this mandate, the accused started issuing fake vaccination certificates to travellers charging around Rs 5,000 per certificate. While only IPM at Narayanaguda is the nodal agency to issue this vaccine, the accused impersonated as immunisation officers with the help of the Doctors, started issuing fake certificates.

Police along with Health department officials raided AR and MM International Vaccination Centers and Sized Yellow Fever Vaccines and fake Vaccinations certificates.

Yellow fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic disease with 40 to 60 percent mortality, transmitted by infected mosquitoes primarily in tropical areas of South America and Africa. As a result, the yellow fever vaccine was made mandatory 9 months ago, for people travelling to and from these countries.
