Bengaluru: The police have launched a manhunt for a gang, which broke into the house of a former MLA in Sadashivanagar and made away with Rs 40 lakh worth of jewellery. The entire act was caught on a CCTV camera installed at the house. The theft occurred between Saturday morning and Sunday evening, the police said.

Mr Venkatshiva Reddy, a former MLA from the Srinivaspura constituency, was away on a family trip when the gang struck. Mr Reddy, who left the city with his family on Saturday, returned home late on Sunday evening
and found the house ransacked.

The Sadashivanagar police rushed to the spot and verified the CCTV footage, which showed the gang of thieves breaking open the door, moving around and looting the valuables. The police said that they have obtained some clues, based on which a manhunt has been launched to track down the culprits.

“The police suspect that someone known to Mr Reddy could have committed the theft. We are probing all angles,” a police officer said.
