Hyderabad: Intermediate student E. Sudheer who was murdered on the main road of Kukatpally on Monday, had pleaded with his assailants to let him appear for the examination. But the killers did not pay heed to the pleas and hacked him to death with hunting sickles which they purchased for '450 from a roadside vendor.

Kukatpally ACP N. Bhujanga Rao said an argument between two groups last Friday at a ground in Moosapet was followed by a series of confrontations and assaults by both groups, finally leading to the brutal murder.

The suspects had also used code language to communicate through SMS the movements of Sudheer before the murder. The codes were fixed by Shiva himself and communicated to the killers.

However, sources said Sudheer’s father had admonished Mahesh and his friends for their mischievous acts in the locality, due to which Mahesh abused Sudheer’s father and this had led to the argument last Friday.

Police on Tuesday arrested three suspects J. Mahesh, B. Naveen and B. Shiva, a degree student and Sudheer’s neighbour who kept the killers updated on Sudheer’s movements before the murder, while the other two, K. Teja and I. Krishna were absconding.

The ACP said that on Friday, Sudheer assaulted Krishna’s friend over an argument, after which Krishna had a fight with Sudheer. Later, Sudheer along with his elder brother Prasad did beat Naveen and challenged Mahesh to come to the goods shed road. When Mahesh went there, Sudheer, Prasad and their friends beat Mahesh, but dispersed after passersby intervened. That night when Mahesh was at a temple, Sudheer, his brother and their friends beat him again.

Humiliated by series of attacks, Mahesh decided to kill Sudheer and sought the help of his friends. They purchased hunting sickles from a roadside vendor at Kukatpally.

On Monday morning, they conducted a recce at Sudheer’s house and requested Shiva to keep them updated about his movements. As per the agreement, Shiva kept texting them about the movements of Sudheer in the code language.

The suspects rushed ahead on bikes and on noticing Sudheer who was pillion riding with his friends, intercepted the vehicle and pulled him down and started attacking him.

When he ran to the main road, they chased and hacked him to death with the hunting sickles and fled from the scene.

However, two cops, Prabhaker and Anjilayya, who were on duty in the surroundings, noticed them and nabbed Naveen.

“On interrogation, Naveen admitted his involvement in the murder along with the other suspect, and the work as per their plan and the information shared about Sudheer’s movements by Shiva,” the ACP said.

The trio were sent in remand and police seized the sickles, bikes and mobiles used by the suspects.
