Kushaiguda Police Apprehend Recover Gold Valued at ₹18.50 Lakh from Burglar

HYDERABAD: Swift action by the Kushaiguda police led to the arrest of an alleged burglar and recovery of gold and other articles worth Rs 18.50 lakh within 24 hours of receiving a complaint.

Police arrested Kontham Sai Kiran Reddy alias Chintu, 27, at 9 pm on Friday, from behind the Kushaiguda market.

Police said Kiran had robbed a trader’s house in Kushaiguda on the night of January 11, and fled with 30 tola gold jewellery. The family was away  at a function.

On inspecting the crime scene, police suspected that the accused was a habitual offender and checked their records, Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said. The police traced Kiran Reddy through the CCTV footage and arrested him.

Kiran was previously involved in 27 burglaries in Nacharam, Keesara, Medipally, Malkajgiri, and Kushaiguda police station limits.

In 2021, he was arrested by the Kushaiguda police in a theft case and convicted for two years. After his release he worked at an industrial unit near the Cherlapally jail.

Police recovered 30 tolas of gold, a bike and two smart phones, all worth '18.5 lakh, from the accused, produced him before the court which remanded Kiran Reddy to judicial custody.
