Coimbatore: Film producer held in rowdy murder case

During police investigation, Arumugam confessed to stabbing Saravanan due to previous enmity.

Coimbatore: Police arrested a 50-year-old realtor and budding film producer in connection with the alleged murder of a history-sheeter, Saravanan, 42,  who was hacked to death in Coimbatore on Saturday. 

On suspicion, police took the realtor and Congress functionary Kung-Fu Arumugam into custody on Sunday morning and interrogated him. 

During police investigation, Arumugam confessed to stabbing Saravanan due to previous enmity.

He said that he knew Saravanan for more than twenty years  as both lived in the same area. Saravanan threatened him and extorted money from him. “As he was troubling me frequently I planned to kill him.

I called him over phone and told him that I would be waiting along with the money under the railway bridge near Somasundaram Mill on Saturday morning. As soon as Saravanan came to the spot I asked him to stop threatening me. And hhen he refused to do it  I stabbed him several times with a knife,” Arumugam confessed, police sources claimed. 

Arumugam produced a Tamil film 'Miga Miga Avasaram' directed by Seemaan recently. 

The shooting was just over but Arumugam was arrested before the movie could hit the screen.
