Hyderabad: Asif Nagar police arrested a 61-year-old man for sexually harassing a 33-year-old woman, his neighbour. According to the cops, the victim was a distant relative of the accused; he was her husband’s paternal uncle.

The arrested accused was identified as Nagender Singh alias Narender Singh, the police said. “The victim was a relative of the victim’s husband; his paternal uncle. He lived in the adjacent house and was a frequent visitor to their residence,” said the police inspector of Asif Nagar, P. Venkateswarlu, adding that on April 6, while her husband was at work, Nagender went to their house on the pretext of taking her husband’s mobile number.

“She was alone and was busy with her household chores when he entered the house. After taking the number, he sat beside her and asked for her number too and then held her. She then shouted at him and ran out of the house”, an official said.

“Meanwhile Nagender Singh has claimed that he had no malicious intention,” added the official. Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was booked against Nagender Singh under relevant sections of IPC and he was placed under arrest.
