HYDERABAD: Police recorded the statements of the five child conflict with law (CCL) involved in the alleged gangrape of their classmate at Hayatnagar. During the three-day custody of the minors, police also took them to the scene of the alleged offence to recreate the scene.

Police had on December 5 filed a request petition before the juvenile justice board (JJB) in LB Nagar seeking police custody of the five boys, four of whom are charged in the gangrape of the 17-year-old girl while the fifth accused was video charged for filming the physical assault.

Sources said the police questioned the minors in the presence of their counsel in the morning hours. The minors were shifted to the Saidabad juvenile home before 5.30 pm on December 10.

“We questioned them about where they had circulated the videos. Three mobile phones used to record the crime were seized and sent to forensic science lab,” a senior police officer said.

The five CCL boys have been previously administered bone density tests to confirm their age, and potency tests.

“We hardly had any time to question them. During preliminary investigation, they confessed that four of them had during the lunch break on August 17 followed the victim to her house and committed the heinous crime. We will gather technical evidence, statements of the victim and her family members and circumstantial evidence and make a strong charge-sheet against the culprits,” the officer said.
