Telangana: Murdered woman's kin protest

The relatives of Gayatri joined activists from people's organisations and ransacked Srikanth's house.

Hyderabad: Tension gripped Yadgaripalli village when the relatives of Gayatri who was brutally murdered by her estranged lover, held a protest demanding deterrent punishment to suspect Srikanth.  

The relatives of Gayatri joined activists from people's organisations and ransacked Srikanth's house. However, they withdrew after the police assured them of a fair investigation and speedy trial.

G. Srikanth, who had been harassing S. Gayatri, since many months brutally killed her at her home when she was alone. He stabbed her eight times on her stomach and back. Neighbours rushed to her rescue hearing her screams and shifted her to hospital, but she died on way to hospital. Srikanth who fled from the spot, surrendered before the police and he was booked for murder.

Meanwhile, after autopsy on Sunday, her family and activists staged a protest in front of Srikanth’s house along with her body. The angry mob ransacked his house and damaged furniture.

Police rushed to the spot and controlled the mob. They assured Gayatri’s family that they will speed up investigation.
