Excise officials seize non-duty paid liquor

Hyderabad: Excise officials of Medchal Malkajgiri district seized non-duty paid liquor (NDPL) being transported illegally from Haryana and arrested seven persons. The total value of the seized liquor and a truck carrying it was around Rs 60 lakh, they said.

Deputy commissioner, prohibition and excise, T. Davi Rajnikanth said that the excise personnel intercepted a car at Bachupally and seized five cartons of scotch whisky from the vehicle and apprehended three persons. Following an inquiry, they seized 10 more cartons of scotch whisky from a godown at IDA Bolaram, which is owned by one of the accused. Later, they seized 22 bottles from three persons to whom the accused had supplied the liquor.

Later, officials seized 150 cartons of scotch whiskey which was transported from Haryana and was supposed to be stored at the godown. A lorry used for transportation and its driver were also held, officials said.
