Hyderabad: Autorickshaw driver held for stealing bag

Hyderabad: An autorickshaw driver who picked up a handbag from the main road at Saroornagar and fled from the spot without handing it over to its owner, was arrested on Saturday. 

The autorickshaw driver thought that he would go unnoticed and picked up the bag, but, he was captured on CCTV, which helped nab him, said the police.

Saroornagar police said that, one Rajani and her daughter had been to a textile store on November 3. While getting down from the car, her handbag fell down. Rajani did not notice this and went inside.

Meanwhile, an auto driver picked up the bag and fled from the scene. Rajani lodged a complaint stating that the bag contained 8.5 tola gold, some silver articles, $120 and international cards, said the police.

LB Nagar ACP K. Prudhivdhar Rao said that with the help of CCTV footage, the crime team nabbed the auto driver, identified as K. Amar Naik of LB Nagar. The stolen property was recovered and he produced in the court, the ACP added.
