Ananthapur: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a petition by Devireddy Shivasahankar Reddy and G Uma Shankar Reddy against the CBI for making Dastagiri, driver of YS Vivenkanda Reddy, as approver in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The two were in judicial custody and couldn’t get bail even after approaching the Supreme Court. The SC bench made it clear that they wouldn't interfere with the AP high court orders in this respect.

The AP high court had rejected bail plea for the two following objections from the CBI over possible attempts on their part to influence witnesses and a likely threat to the witnesses in the three-year-old case.

The two had approached the apex court, against the CBI, for permitting Dastagiri -- an accused in the murder case, to turn approver, following which he was granted bail.

As the two had already filed petitions in Kadapa district court and in high court against the CBI for allowing Dastagiri as approver, the petitions from the two were rejected by the high court and now by the SC bench.
