Hyderabad: To take revenge on the family that rejected his marriage proposal after finding that the information furnished by him on the matrimony site was false, a 32-year-old man from Nagpur morphed the pictures of the bride and posted the same on social media. The accused has been arrested by the Hyderabad Cybercrime police and remanded to judicial custody.

According to the city cybercrime police, the accused Ramzan Riyaz Ansari, 32, created a fake profile on Shaadi.com mentioning that he was a businessman based in Nagpur and a widower. He sent requests to unmarried women expressing his interest to marry them.

A city-based woman expressed her interest in marrying Riyaz. After a few conversations, Riyaz asked for the photos of the woman and her family members. Last month, when the woman’s family got to know that Riyaz has provided false details, they decided to call off the wedding.

“Riyaz wanted to take revenge. He created a fake profile on Facebook and uploaded morphed pictures of the bride. He posted the email id and phone number of the woman on the fake profile, due to which she received several unwanted calls from strangers. Further, Riyaz informed the woman that he wanted to marry her cousin,” said the police. The man has been arrested under Sections 67 (A) of IT Act.
