Bengaluru: The Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court on Wednesday convicted two chain-snatchers to four years jail with a fine of Rs 10,000.  The convicts are Fayaz Sheriff (32), a resident of Nagenahalli, and M. Salman Pasha (20), a resident of K.G. Halli.

The duo was convicted based on a complaint filed by one Sudha V. Rao alleging that around 6.20 pm on May 19, 2012, while she had gone for a walk a duo on a motorcycle approached her and snatched her chain worth Rs 80,000. Sudha later filed a complaint with the Channamannakere Acchukattu police, who arrested the two on September 3 the same year.

They were later released on bail, after which Police Inspector C.K. Malathesh filed a chargesheet with all the evidence and statements of witnesses. The case came up for trial and Judge Venkanna Basappa Hosamani convicted the two.

The duo has another chain-snatching case at C.K. Acchukattu police limits and one case in Girinagar under trial. They were acquitted in another case that happened in Subramanyapura police limits.
