Maharashtra: Hostel superintendent booked for molesting inmates

Thane: A private hostel superintendent allegedly molested several girls inside the hostel premises in Vajreshwari in Thane district, police said on Thursday.

One of the victim on Wednesday filed a complaint following which a case under section 354 (A)(outraging the modesty of a woman) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was registered against the Superintendent Arun Gothekar, Assistant Police Inspector Anil Bhavari of Rabodi police station said.

As per the complaint, since June 15 last year to April 16, the Superintendent allegedly molested the inmates of his hostel, the officer said.

Gothekar showed obscene pictures to the inmates and inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl. Five to six girls had left the hostel due to the harassment, Bhavari added.

The Rabodi police registered the case and have transferred it to the Ganeshpuri police station. No arrest has been made so far and investigations are underway, police said.
