Father and son arrested for selling designed lethal weapons

HYDERABAD: The central zone task force along with the Bowenpally police on Monday arrested a father and son duo for selling weapons and seized some imitation rifles, swords and daggers from their shop. Police said they arrested Vinay Sharma Kolariya, 53, and his son Akash, 23, natives of Jaipur, Rajasthan while selling some weapons to a customer.

Based on their confession, police raided a godown at Sowjanya Colony, Bowenpally, and seized the swords and daggers and dummy rifles. Police said they ordered the weapons from Rajasthan under the guise of handicraft items.

 

Flesh trade racket busted, 6 held

Banjara Hills police raided Rain Peace Spa at Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills and arrested an organiser, Syed Bilal, for running a prostitution racket as well as five customers. Police rescued six women and sent them to a rescue home.

The main organiser, identified as ’Sweety’, was absconding and believed to be in her brother’s house in Delhi. Police seized eight point of sale (PoS) swiping machines. Banjara Hills sub-inspector S. Karunakar Reddy said Sweety ran brothel houses in the names of spas in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi.

 

Labourer held with pistol, live round

LB Nagar police arrested a construction worker, Mohammed Shabuddin Ansari, for carrying a country-made pistol with a live round and empty magazines, all of which were recovered from him. Police spotted him moving in suspicious circumstances near the LB Nagar bus stop on Sunday night, frisked him and found the weapon. Shabuddin, a Jharkhand native, reportedly said he had procured the firearm from Bihar and intended it to sell it for a profit.

 

2 held for stealing gold jewellery

Hyderabad: The Dundigal police arrested Nitesh Kumar and his cousin Kamlesh for stealing jewellery from the residence of the former’s employer and recovered stolen property worth Rs 21 lakh from them. The loot included 406 grams of gold and 2.69 kg silver, said Medchal DCP G. Sundeep. Police said Nitesh Kumar was a marketing executive for Mukesh Kumar and was staying in his penthouse for two years and was aware of how his employer handled his jewellery. The duo struck when Mukesh Kumar was away.
