Muzaffarnagar (UP): The Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday claimed that the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) member, Sandeep Kumar Sharma alias Adil, who was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police, had left the district in 2012.

He had told his family that he was going for some welding work to Jammu and left Muzaffarnagar five years back, they said, adding that the revelation came during the interrogation of his family members here.

Sharma had informed his mother seven months ago that he earns Rs 12,000 per month in Jammu, police said.

His father died in 2007 and his brother is a taxi driver in Haridwar, they said.

A team of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Tuesday left for Srinagar to interrogate Sharma.
