Suspects in Narayanguda and Jubilee Hills cases were riding motorcycles in the three cases, with the rider wearing a helmet and the pillion rider covering his face with a scarf. Except for a vague hint from their manner of operation that the suspects were members of an interstate gang, police were unable to gather much information. (Representational image)

Hyderabad: The Madhapur police of the Cyberabad commissionerate, investigating a chain-snatching incident two days ago in Madhapur, has come to the conclusion that it was an accident.

The bike involved in the accident injured a woman, and sped away, fearing an attack from bystanders. The police reached this conclusion after verifying CCTV footage in the area.

On January 7 night, the woman and her husband visited a hospital in Hitec City and were returning home. While crossing the road, the woman suddenly collapsed and sustained injuries. At that time, a heavy police force was deployed on the road due to a VVIP movement in the stretch. The police rushed to her rescue, shifted her to the hospital, and observed a speeding bike passing by.

As the woman was in shock and unable to provide details, the police initially suspected it was a case of chain-snatching. Special teams were promptly deployed to apprehend the alleged snatcher. However, further analysis of CCTV footage revealed that the biker hit the woman while she was crossing the road, causing her to fall.

The police has now reclassified the case as an accident and initiated efforts to locate the biker. The woman has been discharged from the hospital, and her statement has been recorded, the police said.
