Shocking incident exposes rising concerns over privacy and religious tolerance.

Hyderabad: Six men forcefully entered a hotel room in Karnataka, assaulting an interfaith couple in a disturbing incident of privacy invasion. Shocking videos captured by the attackers themselves reveal the men waiting outside the lodge in Hanagal Taluk, Haveri District. After identifying the room number, they aggressively entered, targeting the couple for being together despite their different faiths.

The attackers, seemingly eager for attention, filmed the assault, showcasing the brutality inflicted on the couple. The footage depicts the assailants verbally abusing the woman, who attempts to shield herself with a burqa. The attack is so severe that she is knocked to the ground. The man is also assaulted and prevented from escaping as two or three attackers restrain him. One of the assailants corners the woman, hitting her and dragging her to the floor.

In a subsequent video shot outside the lodge, the woman struggles to conceal her face, but the men forcibly lift her hijab and continue filming. The victims promptly reported the incident to the Hanagal police station, leading to the arrest of two of the six attackers belonging to the minority community.

The assault, which occurred on January 7 at Nalhara Cross in Hanagal, resulted in charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and outraging the modesty of a woman against the six individuals. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for the remaining four suspects.

This incident follows another case in Belagavi, where seven men, also from the minority community, were arrested for assaulting two cousins under the false assumption that they were an interfaith couple. The violence persisted even after the victims clarified their familial relationship.
