Hyderabad: Second man with foreign cash held

The security personnel held the passenger and seized Rs 38 lakh worth foreign currency from him on Wednesday night.

Hyderabad: CISF personnel at the RGIA apprehended another air passenger who tried to smuggle foreign currency. 

The security personnel held the passenger and seized Rs 38 lakh worth foreign currency from him on Wednesday night. This was the second catch for the CISF within 24 hours. 

According to CISF officials, the passenger, identified as Md. Ahmed Ali Baig, was to leave to Dubai by flight (6E 1405). 

The security personnel at the interim international departure checked the passenger based on the profiling using the XBIS machine and found cash bundles in his bag.

On verification, it was found that the huge foreign currency was being taken to Dubai by the passenger, who did not have documents related to the cash. About 1,175 UAE Dirhams, 1,500 Omani Riyals, 1.9 lakh Saudi Riyals, all worth Rs 38,73,787 was present in Baig’s bag.

The passenger along with the seized foreign currency was handed over to the customs officials at RGIA, for further procedures, said CISF officials.
