Kottayam: 3 held for fake police recruitment

Kottayam: The Kottayam east police here has arrested three persons in connection with the fake recruitment to the traffic police conducted by nine persons who collected lakhs of rupees from the applicants. The arrested were identified as Kolladu  Vattukunnnel Shaimon,40, Olasha Chelithara Bijoy, 32, and Sanithamol, 29, of Mooledam Kunnapally Vazhakuzhy.

A leading local newspaper here had published a report on Thursday that recruitment test will be held to the traffic training police force of the Kerala police at St Augustine's school at Mararikulam on November 11. An investigation by the police revealed that recruitment was being held at Emmau's school at Kaduvakkulam in the district. The police reached the place on the instructions of district police chief S. Harisankar and arrested the three while the training for the selected  candidates was going on. They were charged with impersonation and cheating.According to police sources, the first fake examination was held on October 28 in which 76 persons participated and 14 were selected as head constables. A sum of Rs 3,000 was taken from each for the purpose of uniform. The accused used to invite applications through WhatsApp and publishing advertisements in vernacular newspapers.

The accused also wore the uniforms of the CI and SI to mislead the applicants.
