Hyderabad: Road mishap claims lives of 3 friends

Hyderabad: Three youngsters, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in a road accident at Dulapally under Pet Basheerabad limits late Thursday night. The accident occurred when the bike on which the youths were tripling was hit by a van, said the police. Pet Basheerabad police identified the victims as Sagar, 23, Rohit, 17, and Bhumesh,14,  all residents of Rajiv Gurha Kalpa in Suraram Colony. They were working as labourers.

On Thursday, the trio  was returning from work on a bike at night. When their bike reached the main road at Telangana State Forest Academy area, an over-speeding minivan collided with the bike head-on, an officer said.

“The youngsters were thrown off the bike and suffered severe head injuries. They died on the spot as none of them was wearing a helmet and Sagar was driving the bike. They were not under the influence of alcohol,” said Pet Basheerabad sub-inspector M. Parasuram.

He said that a case has been booked against the van driver and took him into custody. The bodies of the trio were handed over to their families after autopsy at Gandhi Hospital on Friday.

The minivan which was involved in the road accident was issued a traffic challan by the Hyderabad city traffic police for over-speeding and dangerous driving at Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund on October 11, for which the payment of Rs 1,035 is still pending.
