UP: Dalit woman beaten up by farmer for relieving herself in field

The woman had come to attend a wedding in the area.

Muzaffarnagar: A 25-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly beaten up by a farmer for relieving herself in his sugarcane field in Bhens village of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday.

The woman had come to attend a wedding in the area.

“Members of the community blocked the Delhi-Dehradun highway near the village demanding the farmer to be arrested,” Circle Officer, Hari Ram said.

The accused has been taken into custody and a probe has been ordered into the matter, police said
