Interstate robbers’ gang busted; Rs 1.58 cr booty recovered

Ananthapur: Kadapa police nabbed an interstate gang and recovered Rs 1.58 crore worth mobiles, laptops and other valuable electronic gadgets on Tuesday in YSR district.

SP K.K.N Anburajan told media at Kadapa that two interstate criminals who had fled away with cargo consignment containing electronic gadgets were arrested by YSR district police on Tuesday.

Salman Mansoor Ahamed and Mohammad Rehaman Shareef both native of Bengaluru in Karnataka were involved in the robbery, Anburajan told media.

On  October 19, the container lorry bearing HR 38Y 3224 carrying consignment of mobile phones, laptops and other valuable electronic gadgets belonging to blue dart cargo company started from Bilaspur in Haryana towards Chennai. On October 23, the vehicle which was driven by Juber and his helper Wasim reached the  Hyderabad warehouse and later proceeded towards Chennai.

Enroute, the accused stopped the vehicle near Gudipadu village of Duvvur mandal in YSR district broke open the locks of the container and stole mobile phones, laptops and other valuable electronic gadgets and decamped with the booty.

Blue Dart Express Limited's senior security executive lodged a complaint on October 30 and a case was registered.

Anburajan  formed special teams and directed the members to detect the case at the earliest. The special teams launched a man hunt to nab the accused and in the process verified the CCTV footages and got crucial leads, whereby the accused were found to have shifted the booty through a Toyota Innova vehicle bearing HR 26 BJ 4348 and another Audi vehicle bearing HR 29 Y 0267.

The police team part of their regular vehicle checking, intercepted the Innova vehicle as well as an Audi car proceeding towards Hyderabad. Two persons were arrested near IRCON circle on the outskirts of Kadapa city, SP said.

The arrested confessed to the participation of six more persons in the offence and the department formed special teams to nab the remaining accused. Police seized 1,557 Redmi mobile phones, three Apple iphone 14, five laptops, 193 bluetooth ear sets, two cars all worth Rs 1.58 crore.
