Hyderabad: Six Remanded For Murdering 71-year-old

Hyderabad: Police arrested six persons for the murder of 71-year-old businessman G. Anji Reddy, who on September 29 was killed and his body dumped on the driving seat of his car.

The prime accused Ganesh Rakesh (33) , GR Convention owner, in his confession revealed before the police that on September 29 morning, he had gone to Anji Reddy’s house in Walker Town to purchase his house for Rs 2.5 crore.

Police said Rakesh, a native of Tamil Nadu, had gone information that Anji Reddy was planning to shift to the US and had planned to sell his five properties in Hyderabad, and wanted control over them.

He called Anji Reddy to his office in a shopping complex in Secunderabad to negotiate. The victim laid out a timetable for sale of the properties, listing the house at Walker Town at the last.

This angered Rakesh who along with his associates Meka Prabhu Kumar, Jai Mangal Kumar, Vivek Kumar, Satyandra Darawan and Rajesh Kumar alias Rakesh assaulted Anji Reddy who died because of the beating. To make it look like an accident, they placed Anji Reddy’s body in the driver seat of his car, an automatic, switched on the ignition, placed a stone on the accelerator and pushed it from the parking lot of a complex in Secunderabad, reliable police sources disclosed.

When Rakesh was arrested by Gopalpuram police a day, later he denied involvement and said he had not meet Anji Reddy. Police then produce CCTV camera images showing Rakesh and Anji Reddy entering the complex.
