Kakinada: Chodagiri Sarvani, an ANM at the Lingampalem Primary Health Centre in Eluru district, attempted to end her life at her home in K.Gokavaram village on Sunday. She was admitted to Chintalapudi Area Hospital.

Sarvani's colleagues have alleged that she was harassed by the PHC medical officer Dr Sandhya Rani. They staged a dharna at the PHC on Sunday and demanded action against Dr Rani.

Dr Rani, however, denied the allegations in a social media video. She said that Sarvani had not been attending her duties properly and had been coming to the office late. She also accused Sarvani of wasting duty time by spending time with another employee, Satyanarayana.

Dr Rani said that she had warned Sarvani about her behavior and instructed her to do her duty properly. She also said that she had brought all the matters to the notice of the higher officials.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
