Two chain snatchers nabbed in Hyderabad

On Tuesday night, the bike borne snatchers had robbed two women techies within 15 minutes in the Gachibowli IT corridor.

Hyderabad: Gachibowli police arrested two chain snatchers who had struck twice in the IT corridor on Tuesday night, with the help of citizens. The duo was going to commit a third offence when two citizens caught them and informed the police.

The accused were identified as Thadishetty Nagababu, 22, from Yellammabanda of Kukatpally and his friend Shaun Hussain, 21, from Vijaynagar Colony, Kukatpally. 

On Tuesday night, the bike borne snatchers had robbed two women techies within 15 minutes in the Gachibowli IT corridor. Ms Ashwini, an Infosys employee was on her way from office to Wipro Junction to catch a bus to go to her hostel in Madhapur when the bike borne due snatched her chain.

When she raised an alarm, passersby called the police on 100. But by the time police reached the spot, the duo had snatched a gold chain from another woman techie, who was walking in front of the Karvy Solutions office. The two then moved towards IIIT and tried to snatch a chain from a woman walking in front of Hill Ridge Villas, but they did not succeed.

A few people and police personnel followed them, while police teams blocked the road ahead. Later, police got information that two people, who did not want to be identified, had caught the duo.

In another incident, chain-snatchers robbed a woman in Panjagutta and fled with her   70-gram gold ornament. Police said Vaidehi, 56, was walking back home from a temple when the snatchers struck at Srinagar Colony at about 9 am.
