Kerala: Three excise officials hurt in ganja mafia attack

Kottayam: Three excise officials were injured when members of a ganja mafia attacked them with knife and pepper spray. The officers were raiding mafia's hideout at Ettumanur on Tuesday evening when the attack happened. The injured are Excise preventive officer K.R. Binod, Civil Excise officers S. Sreekanth and Jeksy Joseph. Acting on specific information, the Excise team has raided a house at Panambalam.

The house belonged to one Alotty alias Joyce Mon. Eight persons were present in the house. Though the members of the gang fled from the spot, one gang member Akhil was over powered by the sleuths. Ganja was recovered from the house.  The Ettumanoor police took the statement of the Excise officials and registered case against the accused.  The police are on the lookout for the accused.
