Chennai: Footboard travel claims boy's life

The death of a resident of Bazaar Street in Puttur of Chittoor district has generated a lot of interest on social media.

Chennai: Footboard travel on a MTC bus proved fatal for a class 8 student returning home from school on Wednesday evening. The accident happened near Tondiarpet. The deceased boy was identified as S Vicky alias Vignesh (14), a resident of Ezhil Nagar, Tondiarpet.

Vicky was a class 8 student at a private school in Washermanpet. On Wednesday evening, he was traveling on the footboard of an MTC bus (route no.56 C) plying between Broadway and Thiruvottiyur when he met with the accident.

Police said that the bus was moving along Kunalamman Koil street in Tondiarpet when Vicky lost control of the hold and fell down.Police said that he was moved to a hospital nearby by onlookers where he succumbed to injuries later in the night.

The body was moved to Government Stanley Hospital for autopsy. “There were fractures in the rib and internal organs were injured,” a police officer quoted the doctors as saying. Police have registered a case under section 304 (2) (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and are investigating.
