Hyderabad: A local court on Wednesday convicted four cricket betting organisers for one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000. The 14 ACMM court at Nampally convicted M. Madan Varma, 30, V. Shankar Narayana, 31, Kunamneni Sivannarayana, 33 and Bhupathi Raju Ravi Varma, 45, after charges against them were proven during the trial. They were booked under gaming act by the Panjagutta police in 2010.

Following a tip-off, Panjagutta Sub Inspector K. Sunil and his team had raided Flat No. 502 at SV’s Classic Residency near Lal Banglow in Ameerpet. The convicts were  collecting bets from another punter while South Africa and West Indies ODI match was in progress. The police had seized Rs. 78,250, a Samsung LCD TV, a laptop and 20 cell phones, which were later produced in the court.
