Man gets 20-year jail for raping minor

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old at Golconda in the year 2018, was sentenced to imprisonment for 20 years. The Special Court for PoCSO cases which delivered the judgement, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.

During the trial, the victim deposed before the court how the accused, whom she identified as ‘mamu’ assaulted her. After examining the evidence and the arguments presented by Durgaji, the Public Prosecutor, J. Kavita, Judge, Fast Track Special Court for PoCSO cases pronounced the judgement on Friday.

On the day of the offence, when the victim was playing outside their house, the accused saw her alone and called her into his home. He first gave her his mobile phone to play and then assaulted her sexually.

After going home, the girl complained of pain to her mother, who later inquired with the child and found out about the incident and immediately lodged a complaint with Golconda police. A case was then registered under sections 376AB of the IPC and 5(m), 6 of the PoCSO Act. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial remand.

During the trial, the court examined the victim and her parents and they have deposed how the accused assaulted the child. Further the medical reports of the victim proving the sexual assault were presented before the court. Relying on this evidence, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him.
