One detained for robbing jewellery store worker

Hyderabad: The culprits involved in the physical attack and robbing of an employee of the jewellery store near City Lights hotel on Monday night could be regular offenders, suspect police investigating the case.

While a suspect was detained on Wednesday and is being questioned, it was
learnt that the offenders are still at large. Details of notorious offenders
who loot in a similar manner are also being verified, police said.

“The suspect is being questioned and some leads have come up. We are
corroborating the leads for further clues on the actual offenders,” police
said.

Police suspect that the offenders are from the city. They were targeting the
victim and had conducted a recce before robbing him, they said. Special
teams are continuing a hunt to trace the accused, they added.

On Monday night, the suspects sprinkled chilli powder on the victim Pavan
Kumar Saini, attacked him with a knife before snatching a bag containing
gold and diamond jewellery worth over Rs 27 lakh.
