Kurnool: 3 kgs of gold, Rs 5.5 lakh stolen from jeweller

KURNOOL: In a daring robbery, thieves broke into a jewellery shop in Nandyal and decamped with 3 kgs of gold and Rs 5.5 lakh in cash in the early hours of Thursday. The robbers entered the jewellery shop by breaking the lock on the staircase and accessed the shop floor through the roof, said Nandyal One Town circle inspector Prabhakar Reddy.

Earlier reports suggested that the thieves drilled a hole into the wall from the rear portion of the building. The circle inspector vehemently denied reports that the wall was drilled and said it was only by breaking the lock on the staircase.
