Fish found dead in Pasumamula village lake

Hyderabad: A huge quantity of fish was found dead in a lake in Pasumamula village in Hayathnagar on Sunday. Police said it could be the result of someone mixing chemicals in the water. Police registered a case.

The lake is maintained by the panchayat and village fishermen make their living by selling the fishes. 

Mr S. Srinivas, the president of the fishing community, said some persons released chemicals into the water. As a result a large number of fishes and fishlings that were being reared in the lake by fishermen died. “Fishes worth about Rs 60 lakh died in the incident.” said Mr Srinivas.

A complaint was lodged at the Hayathnagar police station and a case under for killing animals and fouling the water of a public spring was registered.
