Hyderabad: The Narayanguda police registered a case against Fernandez Hospital, Boggulkunta, on charges of negligence in providing treatment to a newborn male child which resulting in his nose getting disfigured. Narayanguda station house officer G. Srinivasu said a case was registered under IPC Section 337 against the doctor who treated the child.

According to police, Arshiya Unnisa Khan from Kalapathar delivered a male child on June 8, and the infant was kept in the NICU for phototherapy on doctor’s advise. The child’s parents observed rashes on his nose and informed the doctors. They were told that the rash would be cured. On June 22, a portion of the nose got detached and the area turned black.

When they complained about the same, doctors reportedly admitted that it was their mistake and promised to bear the expenses for further treatment. The hospital management arranged a plastic surgeon, who examined the child and said a cap could be fixed on the affected area.

The hospital management allegedly started harassing the family by denying medication to the child and not giving them reports. Upset over this, the child’s father Imran Khan lodged a police complaint.
