Telangana: Cab driver convicted for murder

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old cab driver from SR Nagar was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment for killing his wife for dowry. Another person was sentenced for life for killing his brother in Neredmet. 

Panyala Mohan married P. Vasantha but within a short time, started harassing her demanding more dowry. In January 2012, he assaulted her causing severe injuries that caused her death, A case of murder and charges under the Dowry Prohibition Act were registered against him and a chargesheet was filed. The I Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge in Nampally, convicted him and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years and imposed a fine of Rs 8,000.

In the other case in Neredmet police station, Harry Peter, 36, killed his elder brother Selvaraj in 2014. A murder case was registered. The VIII Additional Metropolitan Judge at LB nagar convicted Harry and sentenced him to undergo life term imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
