Two arrested for making adulterated garlic paste

HYDERABAD: Sleuths from Special Operation Team (SOT) Rajendranagar zone raided a manufacturing unit in Shantinagar, Mailardevpally late Saturday night and arrested two persons for preparing ginger garlic paste that was blended with harmful chemicals and preservatives. They seized 500 kg of adulterated garlic paste and other material from the unit.

The accused Feroz Ali and Ajit were involved in food adulteration in clear violation of norms and that too in unhygienic conditions, police said.

Police seized two packets of harmful xanthan gum food grade, each weighing 25 kg, seven boxes of acetic acid, over 550 kg of duplicate packets of khana khazana non-veg masala and 20 packets of kitchen chat packets, over one tonne of garlic packed in gunny bags, adulterated mango flavoured soft drinks, grinders, mixing machines and drums.

SOT officials handed over the accused along with the seized material to Rajendrangar police for further investigation.
