Hours after celebrating her eighth wedding anniversary, a 28-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide at Malkajgiri.

HYDERABAD: A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night, after feeling humiliated by her in-laws behaviour accusing her of theft. The deceased has been identified as K. Sirisha, who was married since a year, and was a housewife. She had shifted to Ameenpur area a month ago.

Ameenpur Sub Inspector Murali said that during the wedding of her brother-law, gold ornaments were reportedly missing and the family approached Nalgonda police for the same. “The family then started suspecting Sirisha,” the SI said. “Since she was new to the family, she was doubted by her in-laws of stealing the gold ornaments ,” the official said.

Unable to endure the alleged harassment and suspicion by in-laws, she committed suicide by hanging herself with a saree in a room of her house in Ameenpur on late Sunday night. She left a suicide note stating that no one is responsible for her death. The police broke into the house and recovered the body from the room which was sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered at the Ameenpur police station and an investigation has been ordered on the same.
