Hyderabad: A man on fire a Holi reveller who threw colour at him while celebrating the festival at Marpally in Medak district, Regode police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the afternoon when the victim, B. Anjaiah, was celebrating Holi along with his friends and relatives.

During this time, he threw colour at Mohammed Abdul Shabbir who was passing by on his two-wheeler. Shabbir allegedly filled a bottle with petrol from his two-wheeler, emptied the bottle on Anjaiah and set him ablaze, police said.

The villagers rescued Anjaiah who suffered critical burns on his shoulders and hands. The villagers informed the Regode police and shifted Anjaiah to the Sangareddy government hospital and then to Gandhi Hospital where he was admitted in the critical care unit.

Anjaiah’s condition is stated to be critical, police said. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against accused Shabbir.
