Kochi: In a shocking incident, a three-year old toddler was allegedly sexually assaulted by 62-year-old security staff of a nursery at Kakkanad near Kochi.

The security guard Chandrasekharan Neelankandan (62), a resident of Murithattil house in Makaliyam, Irumbanam, was arrested by Trikkakara Police on Saturdayevening.

According to cops, the incident happened on November 3, when the girl was playing at the day-care. The accused allegedly touched the girl’s private parts after calling her towards a deserted corner of the building.

"On reaching home, the girl told her mother about severe pain in her genitals. She was later taken to a hospital where she told her parents and doctors about her ordeal," they said.

The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on the complaint by the mother. "We're trying to find out whether the day-care owners tried to hush up the matter or not," a police officer said.

Minor girl sexually assualted
Two more cases, where minor girls were sexually assaulted, were revealed on Sunday. The cops arrested a person identified as Anoop of Mannur near Muvattupuzha for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in 2012. As per the case, the accused lured the girl, a resident of Mudakkuzha, to a school building near-by and sexually abused her.

The accused was absconding ever since and the cops finally nabbed him on Sunday from a rented house near Muthalakkodam while acting on a tip-off.

15-year-old gives birth, police files case
Meanwhile, the cops have taken a case against a noted hospital based in Kakkanad after it was revealed that a 15-year old minor gave birth there on November 1 and the hospital authorities failed to report the same to the police.

"A case under Section 21 of the POSCO Act was lodged against the hospital for not reporting the incident as required," a senior police officer said. "The minor girl was sexually assaulted by a 12-year-old boy.

“The hospital authorities tried to hush up the incident, falling to the pressure of the girl's relatives. The boy has been booked under sec 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act," he said.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities claimed to have informed the Child Line on November one itself. When contacted a Child Line official said they had informed the cops on the same day.
