Man held in Kasargod with Rs 5-lakh hawala money

Kasargod: The excise officials arrested a man with Rs 5- lakh hawala  money while he was travelling from Mangalore to Kasargod in a KSRTC bus on Wednesday.  

The accused E. Rahmathulla, 40, Vidyanagara, Mangalore,  was held during a raid by the excise men who were checking the vehicles to detect   smuggling of liquor and narcotics   during the Onam season. They stopped the busnear Manjeswaram  and asked the passengers  to come out.

The officials found that  Rahmathulla had hidden  the money in his waistbelt.  He could not claim the source of the money and was arrested.
