Bengaluru: 2 held for theft, vehicle lifting, valuables worth Rs 4 lakh recovered

Bengaluru: Two people were arrested for their alleged involvement in theft and vehicle lifting, and Chamrajpet police have seized valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from them. The accused are Mohammad Yunus, 26, resident of Parvathipura and Mohammed Riyaz, 31, resident of Banashankari.

According to police, after they came across numerous cases of thefts and robberies in Chamarajpet, they had intensified patrolling. On September 27, the police zeroed on Yunus, who was moving around in a suspicious manner, near Mominpura Masjid Gate on Mysuru Road.

The police picked up Yunus and during questioning he confessed to the crime. The police traced his accomplice Mohammed Riyaz and recovered gold ornaments weighing 63 grams, five two-wheelers and Rs 6,500 in cash.

The police said the two had several cases against them in Chamarajpet, J.J. Nagar, Chandra Layout,Byatarayanapura, Shankarpura and Siddapura station limits.

A senior officer said  Yunus was a habitual offender and was previously arrested and jailed. He came out on bail and absconded, violating bail conditions without appearing before the court. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him. Chamarajpet police have registered a case.
