Hyderabad: Fake baba who was arrested for luring and marrying a 19-year-old girl attempted suicide on Tuesday night at Abids by consuming pills. The baba, Hakim Syed Abbas, was previously booked by the Chandrayangutta Police for luring a 19-year-old girl and marrying her on March 7. A complaint was lodged by the victim’s father, Mohd Afsar, that her daughter went missing on March 5.

“The girl’s parents were consulting the baba for her thyroid problem and the baba got close to her. After she went missing, she returned to the police station on March 13 and stated that the baba had called her to go with him without the parents’ consent and married her on March 7,” said Detective Sub Inspector of Chandrayangutta Police Station, M. Srinivas Rao.

“We booked a case against him for  cheating, use of drugs and black magic and sent him for remand on March 14,” added the Sub Inspector. Syed Abbas was released on bail after a few days. On Monday, the girl’s father started receiving threatening calls from unknown numbers asking him to send his daughter back to the baba or else they will face trouble. The  father registered a complaint again at Chandrayangutta Police station and a case was registered. “We are waiting for the court approval to take further steps” said the Sub Inspector.
