Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Thursday booked a teacher working at a government high school in Shapur Nagar for allegedly molesting his students.

The arrest was made after parents of a Class VI student from Jeedimetla approached the Balala Hakkula Sangham claiming English teacher K. Raja Rao had preyed on the students. Based on the complaints, a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act was registered against Raja Rao.

Cops found that Raja Rao, who had been working at the school for a few years, would hit his pupils and “pinch” the girl students or touch them inappropriately as punishment. Police also found that he had no criminal history.  “After a girl’s father lodged a complaint with us, four other students, along with their parents approached us and made similar allegations against Raja Rao,” SI K. Lingya Naik said.

Police said that Raja Rao is currently absconding and specialist teams have been formed to trace him.

Meanwhile, the Balala Hakkula Sangham has demanded strict action against the accused and also compensation to the victims as per the POCSO Act guidelines.

Police has registered a case and an investigation is on.
