Cybercrime kingpin arrested in J&K, brought to Anantapur

Anantapur: In a major breakthrough, Anantapur police nabbed cybercrime kingpin Anayatullah Khan @Farhan in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Khan, who was hiding in the border region of Jammu & Kashmir, was brought on transit warrant and moved to remand in the district, SP KKN Anburajan said and added that a laptop and two mobiles were seized from him.

He was taken into custody at Manigaon in Kupwara district by SHO Mohammad Rafiq. After he was produced before the Kulwara magistrate court judge he was brought to Garladinne in Anantapur district on a transit warrant and sent to remand as per the orders of the judge.

There are approximately 550 nationwide complaints against the notorious gang in the NCRB portal and the volume of their nefarious operations are to the tune of around Rs 350 crores.

In the investigation carried out in relation to the complaint of a victim in a case registered at Garladinne police station last month, 16 fake accounts of cybercriminals were identified and about Rs 35.59 crore worth of transactions were traced. Out of this, Anantapur police froze Rs 14.72 lakh following the arrest of four members of the gang.

Anburajan appreciated the special team’s extensive efforts to detain the kingpin, who lured many unemployed youth and social media users in the name of online employment.
