Kottayam: Protest is   mounting over the death of  autorickshaw driver Rajeesh, 32, who committed suicide the other day allegedly after being assaulted  by the police. The Congress workers carried  the  body of Rajeesh at Thodupuzha old bridge on Monday and blocked the road for two hours demanding  action against Thodupuzha circle inspector N.G. Sreemon. He  had allegedly assaulted  Rajeesh while interrogating him for absconding with a girl who is a native of Kumaramangalam.

The parents of the girl  had registered a complaint at the Kalloorkadu police.  Rajeesh, a native of Kulangattupara,  was driving autorickshaw in  Thodupuzha town for some time. The police said the  suicide note of  Rajeesh did not complain against the Thodupuzha CI.  Ernakulam range IG P. Vijayan told DC that Idukki special branch DySP  would inquire into the incident.    The inquest of Rajeesh was conducted by Muvattupuzha tahsildar and the funeral was held after post-mortum at his house at Kalloorkadu.
