ADILABAD: A large number of Adivasi women under the banner of the Thudum Debba on Monday staged a dharna in front of the collectorate demanding action against the three accused involved in the gang rape and murder of a married adivasi woman, Kudimetha Jangu Bai in Indravelli mandal, a few days ago.

Adivasi women alleged that atrocities against them were on the rise and the state government failed to check such acts.

BJP leader Suhasini Reddy participated in the protest and demanded that the state government do justice to the adivasi women.

Adivasis women demanded that the state and central governments hang the three accused. They alleged that the state government neglected cases of atrocities against the adivasi women but promptly take action against the accused if the victims were upper caste women.

The Adivasi women from across the district thronged the collectorate in a rally that took out from the R & B guest house area.

The adivasi leaders of Thudum Debba demanded that the state government give a Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia to the deceased family and a government job to the son of the victim as also a 2BHK house to the family and 3 acres of land.

Thudum Debba district president Godam Ganesh said they will intensify the agitation if the governments fail to take appropriate action against the accused.
