AP minister's son, driver booked for allegedly molesting teacher

Accused asked the teacher to get in the car, when she refused, the two allegedly pulled her into the car.

Hyderabad: AP minister Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Ravela Susheel and his car driver Appa Rao allegedly molested a teacher of a private school in Banjara Hills area on Thursday.

The police has booked a case only against the driver. According to sources, Susheel, who was driving the car with the driver seated next to him, intercepted and asked the teacher to get in the car. When she refused, he and the driver allegedly held her hand and pulled her into the car.

Her husband along with passers-by chased the vehicle, caught Susheel and his driver and beat them up before handing them over to the police. Police registered a case only against Appa Rao saying that the the teacher had named him and another “unknown person” in the complaint. The police also booked a case of attack on Susheel by unknown persons.

The victim, a resident of Ambedkarnagar in Banjara Hills, works as a teacher in a private school in Banjara Hills. The incident occurred at about 4 pm when she was walking home. Her husband was on his way to pick her up after dropping four of his brother’s children at home.

Susheel’s friend Ramesh lodged a complaint alleging that 12 persons attacked Susheel while he parked his car on the roadside and was relieving himself.

Family says victim learnt of Ravela’s son only later
The husband of the teacher who was harassed by AP minister Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Ravela Susheel and his car driver Appa Rao, intercepted the car after a chase.

“I raised an alarm and the car sped away. My husband who was coming to pick me up saw them and chased the vehicle and intercepted it,” the victim said in her complaint to the police.

Later the public around gathered at the spot and beat up Appa Rao and the other person who had pulled her into the car, and handed them over to the police.

The woman and her family members alleged that the man with the tattoo was minister Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Ravela Susheel and he was drunk.

Eyewitness said that after the passers-by attacked him, Susheel threatened the crowd and in foul language asked as to who had hit him.

“Even after the attack he threatened us saying that he is the son of a minister and that he would take action on all who beat him see our end,” one of the witnesses told the police. The woman’s brother-in-law said that they came to know only at night that the other person in the car was Susheel. By then the police had registered a against Appa Rao.

“We demand strict action on Susheel who being the son of a minister did such a shameless thing in broad daylight,” he said. Police registered a case for outraging the modesty of a woman against Appa Rao and an unknown person.

“We are verifying the identity of the unknown person. The only clue is that he has a tattoo on his hand. Based on the investigation, we will proceed,” said Banjara Hills ACP Uday Kumar, denying that police were covering up for anyone.

Susheel’s friend M. Ramesh lodged a complaint with the police alleging that 12 persons had attacked Susheel while he had parked his car on the roadside and relieving himself.
